I began my career as a Registered Mental Health Nurse working in a team delivering inpatient alcohol detoxification and group therapy for alcohol dependence at a national level within the NHS. I later trained and became a specialist in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and have been working in this area since 2000 both in a UK wide NHS service and in the independent sector.
I am a specialist in treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (including 10 years as the senior therapist in a National Specialist NHS Clinic for Anxiety Disorders), with a wealth of experience in treating anxiety disorders (generalised anxiety disorder and worry, panic attacks, phobias, health anxiety and social anxiety), along with
trauma and body image problems.
I have presented my research at national and international psychology conferences in the last few years in Manchester, London, Guildford, Milan, Istanbul and Reykjavik along with other teaching engagements.
My paper has now been published in the Journal of Behaviour Therapy and Experimental Psychiatry:
Imagery Rescripting For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: A single case experimental design in 12 cases.
I have also contributed to and been involved in editing a variety of publications as well as contributing as a reviewer on peer reviewed journals .
"I was initially a little apprehensive about CBT due to a bad experience some years ago. However, Nick instantly made me feel comfortable, and I was able to talk freely without worrying about how ridiculous I may have sounded. He gave me simple yet effective methods for dealing with my anxiety and catastrophic thinking, which I could implement straight away. He has an excellent sense of humour and the ability to listen carefully and know when to intervene, allowing me to analyse and understand my faulty thinking processes and change the way I look at situations.
Over the sessions I have learnt so much and seen massive improvements in both my personal and work life. My basal anxiety levels have decreased so that I can now save the adrenaline for when I really need it at work...
I hope not to need the support of Nick again, but would not hesitate to return or refer any person in difficulty."
"I was very happy with the treatment I received from you. Although my OCD is still present, it is definitely more manageable. I felt that you really understand OCD, much more so that my previous therapists and this had distinct benefits for me. Appointment times were flexible and you were very easy to contact. I would like to have more sessions in the future."
"I had some experience with 'generic' over the phone CBT organised by my GP. I did not find this very helpful. The therapy you have provided has been at a different level. I have felt engaged and stimulated by the process and, I think, learnt a lot about psychology. It has helped me enormously, both in my professional and private life. So I am very grateful."
"I was suggested to attend a cycle of CBT sessions (eight I believe) with Nick to deal with a possible depression.
Although a clinical depression was ruled out during and after these CBT sessions, I was at the time struggling with negative thoughts and feelings related to my professional and life difficulties.
The session have been extremely helpful and beneficial to cope with the negatives and redirect my thoughts around productive, hence positive, actions and feelings .
Ultimately, this has been possible thanks to the professional knowledge and skills of the clinician that has treated me, Mr Nicholas Page.
Not only, as a capable clinician, he has encouraged my recovery throughout the course of the treatment providing me with the tools necessary to examine rationally the reality and act in a constructive way to overcome the related difficulties, but he has also empathically demonstrated to care about my feelings and has helped a great deal by providing comforting words and reassurances.
In summary, I strongly recommend Mr Page as a competent clinician that can provide invaluable help to people that may need support in particular stressful periods of life as, indeed, happened to me."
